The Eugine Wigner College of Advanced Studies is part of the Faculty of Natural Sciences at BME (Budapest University of Technology and Economics), founded by a few enthusiastic physics and mathematics students in the spring of 2011, making it one of the youngest at the university.
The goal of our college is to bring together enthusiastic and interested students, enriching their professional and social life at the university. We welcome anyone who would like to delve into interesting topics in physics or mathematics without the constraints of university classes. We strive to balance theoretical and practical approaches, covering various areas of physics, mathematics, and their interdisciplinary fields.
Our programs include larger lectures, seminars (such as problem-solving or programming), as well as opportunities to participate in building demonstration tools or electronics courses, which you can learn about on our website. Faculty events include the Specialization Week (Specialization Night, Company World, lab visits), and the BME Physics Competition, where we warmly welcome all competitors. Besides broadening horizons, we also aim to forge a good-humored community among the members, organizing activities like trips (e.g., canoe tours), dinners, cooking together, and fun parties as ways to unwind.
The development of the website was supported by a grant from the Municipality of Újbuda. (2024)
